Girls' Footy, Harriet Brown, Ridgeway Campus
The Girls' First Footy squad has displayed unwavering dedication throughout most of Term 1 and all of Term 2, committing to numerous early mornings and after-school training sessions. These efforts have fostered unity and cohesion within the team, laying a solid foundation for our journey together. Our season kicked off with a resounding victory against Assumption at our home ground. We secured a commanding 73-8 win, with several newcomers making impressive debuts. The momentum continued in the following week with a hard-fought triumph against Wesley, clinching a 62-34 win. Round three highlighted the team's depth and talent, as we delivered a stellar performance at Chelsworth Park against Peninsula with a remarkable 125-0 victory. To celebrate our success, Mr. Foley generously treated us to a well-deserved pizza meal. This unbeaten start to the season reflects the tireless commitment and determination of every member of the team, underscoring our collective drive for excellence. None of this success could have been achieved without the drive of our coaches Miss Bernadi and Nic and our captain Ava Vincent.
Girls' Netball , Emily Stevens, Ridgeway Campus
The Girls' First Netball team is an incredible team to be apart of. We are very privileged to have Erin Bell as our coach, who previously represented Australia in netball. We have a strong group of players and started the season off well with a good win against Assumption College. Despite losing the next couple of games, we secured a win against Mentone Grammar. We fought hard despite the score not reflecting the game we played. As the season has progressed, we have grown and developed as a team as we have gone through strategies in training such as set plays, long and short options on court and working through scenarios in each of our positions.
Recently, we have chosen four school values which we decided to be most applicable to netball and have discussed how we can showcase these values at training and during our games. These values include courageous, compassionate, balanced, and collaborative. These values have helped us in developing a culture where we are supportive of each other, fight for every loose ball, manage our time around our commitments and work together as a team. To assess our implementation of these values we constantly give a rating of how well we have showcased each value, allowing us to grow and find room for improvement. Additionally, we vote in a player who has showcased the selected value each week the most, which allows us to celebrate the outstanding efforts of our teammates.
Overall, Girls' First Netball is a very enjoyable experience for all , and we can certainly say that coming to trainings each week and playing the games on the weekend is something we always look forward to.
