Swimming Season

Swimming is an amazing sport for people who love to be active!

This year we have been involved in the Buckley House Swimming Carnival, and AGSV swimming. At these events, students had to be courageous and determined when competing in races and trying out for the school team. The Buckley House Swimming Carnival was a very fun experience as I enjoyed watching everyone try their best and cheer for their houses. In the races I was swimming, I had so much fun telling everyone to do their best and wishing them good luck! In the Buckley House swimming carnival, everyone who participates represents their house and gets points for their team. This year Lincoln won! Good job Lincoln and congratulation to everyone who participated and did their best!

AGSV swimming is another great activity for confident swimmers who did really well at the swimming carnival. I think the AGSV event is really enjoyable because you get to have fun racing against people and winning ribbons all over again. The best thing is after you race, you will also get medals and high fives from everyone in the team. The people who came back from the carnival had a bright smile on their faces because of what they achieved.

Overall, the swimming season this year in Buckley House was so much fun. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and had a smile of their face.

Inter School Sports

Throughout Term 2 our teachers have been working very hard to run our Year 5-6 Inter school sports teams. There are a variety of sports to choose from which include Netball, T-ball and Footy. We have now begun our early Wednesday morning sport training. This training consists of drills, games, warmups and much more. Some of our senior students even come down to help! Our games are every Friday afternoon and sometimes we even get to travel to different schools. Overall, this program is tons of fun and encourages students to show a balanced lifestyle.

 Cross Country

On Thursday May 2nd we competed in our annual House Cross Country. Cross Country is a long distance running event where students get to compete in a race to earn house points. In preparation for this, our PE sessions are taken over by various types of running trainings. These trainings are a huge help when it comes to our races. All grade 3-6s are required to take part in this and show courage to help their house win the cup at the end of the year. Although some kids don't particularly enjoy this, the top10 qualifiers of each race at the House Cross Country make the school team to go through to the Ivanhoe District Championships and also the AGSV Cross Country. Without Mr Mac and Mr Keuneman none of this would be possible so a huge thank you and congratulations to them.

IDSSA Soccer Round Robin

On Friday April 19th, both girls and boys competed in the IDSSA soccer round robin tournament. This is a district run program where the 10 primary schools in the Ivanhoe District get together and compete in a soccer tournament. The winner after all the games gets to go through to the Banyule Division as well as having their school's name engraved on a plaque.

This program brings together all schools from different areas and is a great opportunity to learn a new sport and show great sportsmanship.
