AGSV Swimming
Hannah Borschman, Year 10, Ridgeway Campus
This season for swimming at Ivanhoe Grammar School was yet another exciting battle for victory. For the Girls' Swimming team it was a close second behind Mentone Grammar and a well earnt fourth place for the Boys’ team.
This season we saw the start of Ivanhoe Swim in the new pool, bringing many new faces to trials and training for AGSV. All the early morning training and after school trials showed the commitment and dedication everyone had, and while the scoreboard didn’t reflect this it was still an awesome effort from everyone involved.
While everyone swam their very best there was definitely a few stand out performances on the night. Ciara Jeffs won the 50-metre backstrokes after a challenging start as well as breaking the under 17 AGSV record in 100-metre freestyle despite only being 13 years old. Ciara is commended on her effort and dedication towards the team. Oliva Flight was another stand out performer among the Girls' Swimming team, breaking the under 17 girls 50-meter breaststroke record by 3 seconds. Her drive and passion for the sport and school is exceptional. From the Boys' Swimming team Eli Billman won the under 15s 50 metre freestyle and broke the record for under 15s 50 metre fly record. Louis Chien also had an impressive night winning the 50-metre breaststroke and performing well in multiple relays. Thank you to Ako Kusafuka for coaching and motivating us the whole way along.
