Physical Education

Welcome to Term Two!

Please find below information about the curriculum areas for each level that will be the focus this term. 

 

The swimming timetable for some levels is at the stage of being confirmed for this term.

 

Foundation

This term, Foundation students will develop their catching and throwing skills, progressing from basic tracking and body control to catching at different heights and throwing with improved accuracy. The unit concludes with a Fun Invasion Games Festival in Week 10.

 

Year 1

This term, Year 1 students will develop foundational skills in Soccer and AFL. In Soccer, they will learn kicking, dribbling, and passing, progressing into small-sided games, before showcasing their learning in a Week 5 festival. In AFL, students will be introduced to catching, handballing, and punting, and begin applying these skills in modified games.

 

Year 2

This term, Year 2 students will build on their Soccer and AFL skills. In Soccer, the focus shifts to applying skills in game situations, including basic attacking and defensive play, with a Week 5 festival. In AFL, students will further develop their skills and demonstrate improved confidence and decision-making in modified games.

 

Year 3

This term, Year 3 students will explore invasion games and minor court games. They will begin by learning key game concepts such as creating space and defending effectively, followed by an introduction to Tennis and Badminton, where they will develop basic racquet skills and simple tactics. The term concludes with a mini-tournament.

 

Year 4

This term, Year 4 students will build on their understanding of invasion games by applying attacking and defensive strategies more consistently in gameplay. They will also refine their Tennis and Badminton skills, improving control, accuracy, and tactical awareness, with the term concluding in a mini-tournament.

 

Year 5

This term, Year 5 students will participate in Soccer, AFL, and Tennis through the Sport Education model. They will develop game skills and tactical understanding while taking on team roles such as coach, referee, and captain. The term includes team-based competitions in AFL and Tennis.

 

Year 6

This term, Year 6 students will further develop their skills in Soccer, AFL, and Tennis through the Sport Education model. With a focus on leadership and independence, students will apply advanced tactics, take on officiating and coaching roles, and participate in team-based competitions.
