Principal's News

Dear parents and friends of St Agatha's School community,

Welcome to Term 2. We hope you enjoyed a restful break and were able to celebrate the joy of Easter with family and friends. As we begin this new term together, we look forward to continued growth in learning, faith and community life at St Agatha’s.

An Easter Reflection

Easter is the heart of our Catholic faith. Through the Resurrection, we are reminded that love triumphs over death and that hope and new life are always possible. As an Easter people, we are called to live with joy, compassion and trust in God’s presence in our daily lives.

Pope Leo XIII reminds us of the call to live our faith actively when he said:

“Peace consists not in the absence of conflict, but in the presence of Christian charity.”

May the joy of Easter continue to guide us as we strive to be a community grounded in faith, love and peace.

Loving God,

Through the Resurrection of Your Son, you have filled the world with hope. Help us to live as people of faith, bringing peace, kindness and joy to one another each day. May our school always be a place of welcome and love.

Amen.

ANZAC DAY

Canteen Update

Please note that the canteen is currently closed while we seek a temporary replacement canteen manager. Carolyn has needed to take time off for personal reasons, and we wish her all the very best during this time. We thank families for their understanding and patience and will provide updates as they become available.

First Holy Communion Preparation

This term, eligible students will begin preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Parent workshops will be led by Fr Elio Capra, who many families will remember as a funny, engaging and highly inspirational speaker. We are very fortunate to welcome Fr Elio back to St Agatha’s once again to support our students and families on this important sacramental journey.

Mother’s Day – Honouring All Mother Figures

Mother’s Day is a special opportunity to recognise and celebrate the many people who care for, nurture and guide children in their lives. At St Agatha’s, we honour all mother figures—mothers, grandmothers, aunts, carers and those who lovingly take on a maternal role.

We are also reminded of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, whose quiet strength, faith and love remain a powerful example for us all.

All mothers, grandmothers, aunts and mother figures were warmly invited to attend our Mother’s Day Breakfast on Friday 8th May.

The morning will include:

  • A performance by the school choir
  • A performance by our Taiko Drummers
  • A delicious selection of scones with jam and cream, along with other yummy food

Cost: $2.50 (to cover costs) Tea and coffee provided

Loving God,

On this Mother’s Day, we turn our hearts to Mary, the mother you chose to carry hope into the world. In her quiet courage and faithful “yes,” we see a model of love, trust, and humble strength.

As Mary nurtured Jesus with tenderness and devotion, we give thanks for the mothers among us who mirror that same care—through acts of patience, sacrifice, and steadfast love, often offered unseen and unspoken.

Bless all mothers:

those rejoicing, those weary, those grieving, and those hoping. May they find comfort in Mary’s story, and reassurance that their love, like hers, matters deeply.

May Mary’s example remind us that ordinary lives filled with faith can become vessels of extraordinary grace.

We ask your blessing on all gathered at our table, and on the families and communities we serve. May we honour mothers not only today, but through lives shaped by gratitude and compassion.

Amen.

We wish all mothers a happy and peace-filled Mother's Day on Sunday 10th May.

Sr Faustina's Silver Jubilee - Celebrating 25 Years

On Saturday 16th May at 10:30am, the Parish is holding a special Mass and celebration for Sr Faustina. It would be wonderful if families could attend to show their support and love for the wonderful work that Sr does for Parish and in particular the students who take part in the Sacramental program.

Please consider coming along. We hope that our School choir and Taiko drummers may perform at the celebration after the 10:30am Mass.

Catholic Education Week – Week 5

Friday 15th May – Friday 22nd May

The theme for Catholic Education Week this year is: “Every school a home of peace.”

The Diocesan Catholic Education Week Mass will be held at St Mary’s Church, Bairnsdale. Due to the distance, we are unable to take students; however, members of the leadership team will attend to represent St Agatha’s.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to another rich and faith‑filled term together. Don't forget to check out the newsletter pages for each of the year levels.

Warm regards,

Michelle Bruitzman
