Getting to know you

Year 4 has begun with lots of enthusiasm and a happy buzz across the cohort. During the first two weeks of school, we have focused on getting to know our peers and teachers, setting up clear routines, and creating a calm and welcoming classroom. Students have taken part in group activities, shared their thoughts, and started to feel comfortable and confident as members of the Year 4 team. This settling-in time has helped prepare students for the learning ahead, and we are looking forward to a positive and enjoyable year together.

School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support - Our Matrix

This fortnight, Year 4 students have been learning about our school values and what they look like in our classroom and around the school. They discussed what resilience, responsibility, and kindness mean and collaborated to create their own classroom matrix. Students showed great leadership by contributing their ideas and actively listening to one another. Our classroom matrix is designed to help students make positive choices every day, creating a safe and engaging learning environment for everyone.

They have participated in an assortment of getting-to-know-you activities and games, and shared their views on what makes them a valuable member of a team. They demonstrated kindness by listening carefully to each other, showing respect for other people’s opinions, and had fun in the process.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support - Where can we play?

Over the past two weeks, Year 4 students focused on how they can be responsible by playing in the correct areas of the school. As a team, students looked at the CPS Out of Bounds map, revisiting which locations around the school are safe to play and which areas are out of bounds. Year 4 students did a fantastic job in identifying that the canteen area is where they need to be if they don’t have a hat or if they are finishing off their food. Additionally, students were able to name which activities and ball games are appropriate in different locations around the school. This learning supports students in making safe and responsible choices outside.
