So generous, St George's

So generous, St George's
Throughout Term Four, our St George’s community united once again to support Anglicare WA’s annual Christmas Backpack Appeal, helping ensure every child starts the new school year feeling confident and prepared.
Over five weeks, students worked in PCG groups or individually to collect and pack brand-new backpacks filled with essentials—stationery, books, lunch boxes, and drink bottles. Each backpack is more than just supplies; it is a message of hope and kindness for a child and family facing hardship.
This week, Anglicare WA Community Engagement Manager Kelly Keall was thrilled to arrive at St George's to see such a big quantity of generous donations. Several students packed her car to the brim.
This year’s success was driven by our dedicated PCG teachers, mentors, and Anglicare Ambassadors, who sparked meaningful conversations about empathy, generosity, and service. For many students, this was a hands-on way to live out our school motto: Wisdom, Grace, and Service — and to see how small acts of compassion create big impacts.

We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to every family who contributed.
Together, we donated 37 filled backpacks to Anglicare WA, brightening the start of the school year for children across Western Australia.
We are seeking expressions of interest for the 2026 Anglicare Ambassador Program—a unique opportunity for socially conscious Year 10 students to represent St George’s and champion social justice in our community.
This program empowers young people to lead, advocate, and make a real difference.
Open exclusively to Year 10 students in 2026, Ambassadors will gain hands-on experience through events like the Optus Stadium Sleep Out, School Sleep Out in the CBD, Advocacy Masterclasses, and a range of other volunteering opportunities. These experiences build empathy, strengthen teamwork, and inspire lasting social change.
If you are ready to step up and live out our values of Wisdom, Grace, and Service, apply today! See or direct message Ms Yoxall for an application form. Applications close Monday, 8 December.
