Year 7 & 8
Mr Tom Dempers
Our Year 7 and 8 students are putting the finishing touches on their learning for 2025.
This is a busy time, with classes wrapping up key concepts and assessments that showcase the progress students have made across the year. It has been encouraging to see so many students applying themselves with maturity, resilience and a genuine desire to finish well.

Our Year 7s are now approaching the end of their very first full year of high school, and it has been wonderful to watch their growth, both academically and personally. Over the next few weeks, students will complete their final learning tasks for each subject. These tasks are not something to fear, but rather a chance for students to show how far they have come since February. Teachers will use these assessments to provide feedback that will help guide students as they move confidently into Year 8 next year.
I continue to encourage Year 7 students to use their class time wisely, stay organised, and approach each task with a calm and positive mindset.

Our Year 8 students are steadily working on the final academic pieces that will round out their second year of high school. At this time of year, students have a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate not only what they know but also the commitment and perseverance they have shown across the semester. The feedback they receive now will be a valuable stepping stones as they transition into the challenges and expectations of Year 9 and beyond.
The end of the year is a time when tempers can be short, and patience can be thin. I just want to remind everyone that there are only two and a halfweeks to go before a well-deserved break. Hang in there, show kindness and respect to one another as you have done all year, and end the year on a positive, strong note.
I remind all Year 7 and 8 students of the schools motto – wisdom, grace and service. Let’s finish the year with these values in our hearts and minds.
