Year 10 Dance solos

Our Year 10 Dance students recently completed their highly anticipated Solo Dance Performance assessments, and what an extraordinary display of creativity, technical development, and storytelling it was!

Throughout the year, these students have worked tirelessly to build their choreography skills, refine their movement vocabulary, and deepen their understanding of dance as an expressive art form. Their dedication has truly shone through in their final solos after completing the Co3 Program last term.

The ideas and concepts explored this year inspiring. Students tackled thoughtful, mature, and deeply personal themes such as:

🌱 Growing up

💛 Impact of self-confidence

🏚️ Homelessness

🔒 Fear of confinement

🌙 Insomnia

💌 Receiving difficult letters or news

⚔️ War and its emotional aftermath

Each performance was unique, meaningful, and reflective of the students’ growing artistic identities. The class should feel incredibly proud of the work they created.

If you see any of our Year 10 dancers around the school, feel free to ask them about their performance ideas, they would love to share their creative process, inspirations, and choreographic intentions with you.

Inside the Organ Loft

Earlier this month Alessandro Pittorino, the Leader of Performing Arts at AngliSchools, gave a stunning pipe organ recital at St Patrick’s Basilica. In the audience were Harvey Miller and Lawson Forrester (Year 11), who joined me to enjoy the concert.

After the performance, we were invited up into the organ loft — a rare treat!

Harvey and Lawson even had the chance to try the pipe organ themselves. Since hearing Alessandro play at Valedictory, they have been eager to learn more, and this experience was truly inspiring for them.

A sneak peak at our new installation!
A sneak peak at our new installation!

Our Visual Art students have been pouring their talent and imagination into an extraordinary installation that will soon grace the foyer of St George’s Anglican Grammar School’s new building. This vibrant work commemorates students and staff at St George's Anglican Grammar School in 2025.

The process so far:

  • Specialty paper has been washed with watercolour in vibrant colours.
  • Intricate templates of different sizes have been cut to represent all 597 students from Year 7 to 12—plus a flower for every staff member.
  • Each petal has been sculpted by hand, dried, and carefully assembled into stunning floral forms.
  • These flowers are now being arranged and secured onto giant canvas supports, creating a breathtaking visual tapestry.

What’s next?

During December’s Festival of Learning, art students and staff will unite to transfer every name onto the artwork, weaving text and image into a powerful statement of community. The final installation will take pride of place in the foyer of our new building in early 2026.

Stay tuned for more updates as this masterpiece blossoms to life!
