Perfect Poetry
Writing
This term in Writing, Grade 4 students have begun exploring, analysing and creating their own poetry! Students are loving the opportunity to draft their poems one day and publish them the next, giving them a wonderful sense of accomplishment.

In poetry, I have loved that we can write about anything. It is not just about what we write, but how we use figurative language to make our poetry interesting and help the reader visualise what we are describing. We also learnt that poems can be silly and don’t always have to make sense!
Maths
In Maths, students have been revisiting multiplication and division. We have been incredibly impressed with how much students have remembered and how they are applying their knowledge to increasingly challenging worded problems. Students have also been enjoying fun games to practise and strengthen their skills.

In Maths, I love how I am being extended in multiplication and division. I have enjoyed learning the grid method for multiplication and the box for division. Even when I was extended, my teacher gave me some BODMAS questions. Although I was challenged, I still had to use the grid method to show all my thinking and working out!
Cooking
We have also excitedly begun our cooking sessions with the lovely Erin! Last week, students made delicious smoothies while beginning to develop their chopping skills. Students are working towards earning their knife licences in the coming weeks, building their confidence and preparing for more complex recipes.
If you are available to lend a hand during our cooking sessions, we would love your support! Please email your child’s teacher if you are interested. Extra hands are always welcome.

In cooking, we made smoothies! We put bananas, strawberries, cinnamon, milk, honey and yoghurt into them. We also got to decorate our smoothies with mint and garnishes. They tasted DELICIOUS! My favourite part was when my group made sure everyone was taking turns. We even got to make an extra smoothie!
