STEM Goes Global!
Wyndham Central College STEM Academy students recently took part in the Global Design Challenge: The Living Room Project, hosted by Science Gallery Melbourne, where they collaborated with students from Honam High School in South Korea.
Working across cultures and languages, students explored translation apps and digital tools to make sure everyone could contribute and be understood. They exchanged ideas, showed appreciation for Korean culture and formed new friendships along the way.
Together, students developed sustainable housing solutions using biomimicry and emerging materials, applying creativity, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and design thinking to a real-world challenge.
The experience gave students the opportunity to see STEM beyond the classroom, not simply as scientific knowledge, but as a way to connect with others, share perspectives and design solutions for the future. It was a valuable experience in building confidence as young designers, innovators and global collaborators.
