Assistant Principal's Report

As we come to the end of Term 3, I would like to acknowledge what has been another rewarding term at Wyndham Central College. Our students have had many opportunities to learn, participate and connect with our school community, both inside and outside the classroom.

Throughout the term, our focus for Years 8 and 9 has continued to be on students being present, engaged and ready to learn. Term 3 is an important time for students as they begin making decisions about subjects, electives and future pathways. Career planning has also been a focus during pastoral time, and I encourage families to continue having conversations at home about the choices students are making and how these connect with their interests, strengths and future aspirations.

It has also been wonderful to see students embracing the many opportunities available beyond the classroom. Multicultural Week, Science Week and Book Week have all been highlights of the term and have brought plenty of energy and excitement to the College. During Multicultural Week, hundreds of students gathered at the outdoor amphitheatre to support their peers and celebrate the diversity of our school community. Science Week provided opportunities for students to explore, investigate and showcase their curiosity and creativity, while Book Week brought students and staff together to celebrate reading, with some fantastic costumes appearing around the College. These events are an important part of school life and provide our students with opportunities to participate, connect and celebrate the many different interests and talents across our community.

As always, strong relationships between school and home are an important part of supporting our young people. I encourage families to maintain regular communication with tutor teachers, Year Level Coordinators and Year Level Leaders. Whether the conversation is about learning, attendance, wellbeing or celebrating a student's success, we value working alongside our families.

I would also like to sincerely thank Scotty Lynch, who led the Year 8 Year Level during Allan Nilsen's extended leave. His willingness to support the Year 8 team and students has been greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank Caitlin Braddy for stepping into the Year 9 Year Level Leader role and for the support and leadership she has provided to our Year 9 students, families and team throughout this time. Stepping into leadership roles such as these requires flexibility, commitment and a genuine willingness to support others, and I am grateful to them both.

Finally, thank you to our students, families and staff for your contribution throughout Term 3. It has been a full term, and our students should be proud of what they have achieved. I hope everyone has an opportunity to enjoy a well-earned break, spend time with family and friends, and return refreshed and ready for the final term of 2026.

Have a safe and enjoyable term break, and I look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 4.

Year Level Leader's Report Year 8

Celebrating a term of learning, achievement and community

As we come to the end of another rewarding term, we would like to celebrate the many achievements and experiences of our Year 8 students. Our students have continued to demonstrate creativity, commitment, courage and school spirit across a wide range of opportunities.

Night at the Museum – Humanities Expo

Our Night at the Museum Humanities Expo was a fantastic evening, with students bringing history to life through displays, presentations and costumes. 

Congratulations to Mika Nguyen, who took out First Place with an outstanding Japanese display.

We would also like to recognise the fantastic effort put into costumes by Zane Zarafa (8D) as a Knights Templar knight, ZinZin (8B) in a kimono, Natalia, Charlie and Tenielle (8B) as plague victims, and Rav (8B)as a plague doctor.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved. Your creativity, enthusiasm and hard work made the evening a great success.

FDP Continues to Shine

Our Football Development Program (FDP) continues to provide valuable opportunities for students to develop their skills, teamwork and confidence.

On Wednesday 9 September, our Year 8 students proudly showcased their football skills to Acting Secretary, Schools and Regional Services, Dr David Howes. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate their progress, commitment and passion for the program.

Celebrating Student Courage – I-CAN Expo

A special congratulations to Kate Cousins, who represented Wyndham Central College at the I-CAN Expo at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, speaking about the important issue of bullying.

Kate showed great courage in speaking publicly about such an important topic. Due to an unexpected staffing situation, the school was unfortunately unable to provide staff support on the day, and we sincerely apologise to Kate and her family. Despite this, Kate demonstrated remarkable resilience and independently attended the event, representing our school with pride.

We are extremely proud of Kate for being such a courageous and positive ambassador for Wyndham Central College.

The Addams Family

Congratulations to everyone involved in the wonderful school production of The Addams Family. A special mention goes to Year 8 student Natalia Mesiti, who played Pugsley and was an absolute star on stage.

The talent, dedication and teamwork demonstrated throughout the production was fantastic.

Looking Ahead – Respectful Relationships

Next term, our pastoral lessons will focus on emotional awareness and resilience as part of our Respectful Relationships unit. Students will explore strategies for understanding and managing emotions, responding to challenges and building positive, respectful relationships.

Year Level Leader's Report Year 9 

A term of energy, creativity and celebration

Term 3 has flown by! What a term it has been. With our Science Week, Book Week and a wonderful series of class assemblies, the past few weeks have been full of energy, creativity and celebration.

SCIENCE WEEK

Throughout the term, our Year 9 students have worked incredibly hard on their Science Fair projects. They completed and presented a range of fascinating scientific discoveries and experiments, making it incredibly difficult to choose between them all.

Well done and congratulations to everyone for the outstanding effort, curiosity and commitment you demonstrated.

BOOK WEEK

Year 9 students certainly embraced Book Week this year. It was wonderful to see so many students dressing up and participating enthusiastically in the break-time activities. 9C was a particular standout in the dress-up department!

ASSEMBLIES

Congratulations to 9A, 9B, 9C, 9E, 9G and 9S on their spectacular assemblies over the past few weeks. Each assembly reflected the spark and tenacity of the class.

It has been a pleasure to watch each class work together, support one another and present as a team. These have been some of the best student-led assemblies I have ever seen. You should all be incredibly proud of your efforts—I know I am!

FINAL THOUGHTS

As Term 3 draws to a close, Term 4 will be here before we know it. This Year 9 cohort never fails to surprise me. You continue to embrace the unexpected, support one another and grow into amazing role models for the year levels below.

I am incredibly proud of everything you have achieved this term and look forward to seeing what Term 4 brings.
