From the Principal's Desk
As we come to the end of Term 3, we take a moment to reflect on what has been another rewarding term for our school community. Throughout this term, our students have continued to demonstrate enthusiasm, resilience and a commitment to learning. It has been wonderful to see their growth, achievements and participation across the classroom, sporting, cultural and community activities.
I would also like to thank our dedicated staff for their ongoing commitment to providing rich learning experiences and supporting every student to reach their potential. To our families, thank you for your continued encouragement, partnership and support throughout the term.
Parent Survey
An essential part of our future planning is to have the feedback provided by our parents/carers who complete the Parent Opinion Survey.
I would like to thank all the parents/carers who have taken the time to complete the online survey, and for those that did so at the Parent/teacher interviews on Tuesday. I would like to thank our Community Hub who have supported parents to undertake the survey, and I am looking forward to receiving the results that will certainly support us for our 2027 planning.
Last Chance- I invite all parents/carers that haven’t had their voice heard to fill in the survey which should take less then 15 minutes.

Student Reports
As term three comes to an end this week, our very talented students have excelled in many endeavours during this term. Staff finalised interim reports and students completed their term reflections and goal setting activities. Thes processes support students to build on their individual education plans and continue their learning, wellbeing and improvement journey.
Our reporting processes and our parent teacher interviews are another way that we continue to build on our important parent/carer relationships, and I would like to reiterate that a key part of the success of your son/daughter’s education is in the way our families interact and work in partnership with the school.
Therefore, we once again thank all parents/carers who attended the parent teacher interviews on Tuesday 15th September. We were happy to see so many of our families attending and taking the opportunity to discuss students results and participation in many of the school co-curricular activities. Parents/carers should have received a copy of their child(ren’s) reports but as always, all reports are directly available to parents/carers via Compass.
If you couldn’t attend, you are still able to make contact with your child’s tutor teacher and classroom teacher via Compass.
Year 12 students
Year 12 students are now on the homeward stretch, and exams are just around the corner for most students. I ask that all Year 12 VCE and VCE/VM students reflect on the advice and preparation given to them by their teachers, which includes the two opportunities in term 3 to receive report feedback. I also ask all students to complete their interviews and processes with our Pathways and Transitions (Careers) teacher Ms Siragusano that supports their future planning. A final reminder is the invitation to join our college Alumni program. We always love to hear about and support our students in all their future endeavours.
I wish each of our students the very best of luck with the completion of final assessments, their exams and completion of 6 years of education at WCC. We hope that they continue to strive for excellence as I’m sure that their hard work will pay off and we are all able to celebrate at our Year 12 Farewell assembly and at our Valedictory dinner in October.
Acknowledgements
This newsletter is full of celebrations for the wonderful things that have occurred this term.
I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge the work our students have achieved in their classrooms as well as the extracurricular opportunities that have been provided.
We acknowledge the arts Faculty and the wonderful work of a team of staff and student leaders in the presentation of our school musical and school concerts and we look forward to the Arts show early next term. This extends to the Science faculty for our annual Science Fair, our humanities faculty for ‘Night at the Museum”, our Book week activities prepared by our Resource centre, our Student Services team and Link centre (community hub) that supported both our Wear it Purple and RUOK? Days and of course the SRC and House Captains for all their leadership for Multicultural week.
I would like to thank our student representative council for their tireless effort in organising all our student led days and activities and their continued focus on building student agency and voice and a culture of inclusion. Well done to all members of our WCC community!
This newsletter, our weekly bulletins and Compass posts provide many other highlights of student achievements and upcoming opportunities within the school and the local community for the remainder of the school year. I ask that you take the time to read the reports provided by the assistant principals, year level leaders and program leaders and continue to encourage student participation.
This term we had some special college visitors and presentations. On 26th August we had a visit from our Regional Area Director for Western Melbourne, Dr Anastasia Gabriel. We were able to showcase the things that WCC are known for as well as the celebrations of our improved student results, shared what makes us an AVID demonstration school and highlighted our students’ achievements. On Wednesday the 9th of September we also hosted a visit from the current Acting Secretary of the Department of Education, Dr David Howes.
Again, it was our opportunity to showcase our wonderful school. Dr Howes was interested in seeing our classrooms, special programs and was able to meet many of our remarkable students who spoke with him about learning, leadership and opportunities they can and do participate in.
This term the College has also been asked to present to our local network schools in Wyndham highlighting our classroom work and as an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Demonstration school we hosted a day for all Victorian AVID schools on Friday 4th. On the 7th of September as part of the Wyndham Learning Festival - commitment to the learning journey, our school launched our second RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) with our indigenous colleagues and community members.
I would like to thank all our staff for their planning and preparation for their presentations and the leadership they are demonstrating to other communities as we showcase what we do best at WCC.
I wish all members of the Wyndham Central College Community a safe, happy and restful term break and look forward to continuing to share our stories in term four and look forward to welcoming our students back refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning and connection.
Please note: Mr Ashley Rowe, Yr 7 Assistant Principal will be the Acting Principal in week 1 of Term 4. I will see you all when I return from leave on Monday 12th October.
