Science

It's been an exciting term in the Science Department, with students across all year levels diving into hands-on experiments and developing their scientific skills.

Our Year 7 students have been mastering the art of using a Bunsen burner safely as they work towards earning their Bunsen burner licenses. This essential skill sets them up for a range of practical experiments in the future!

In Year 8, students have been learning how to collect data from both primary and secondary sources and set up fair tests. They put their skills to the test with an exciting investigation into exothermic reactions, creating their own elephant’s toothpaste!

Year 9 students have been sharpening their inquiry skills by learning how to construct strong hypotheses, control variables, and refine their experimental methods. These skills are essential for conducting high-quality scientific investigations.

In Year 10 Biochemistry, students have been exploring the periodic table, different types of chemical reactions, and how substances interact at the molecular level. Their growing understanding of chemistry is setting them up for future studies in senior science subjects.

Meanwhile, Year 10 Psychology/Biology students have been delving into the fascinating world of sleep patterns and the brain. Understanding how the brain functions and the importance of sleep has led to engaging discussions about real-world applications and personal wellbeing.
