Swimming Carnival

After a very warm weather forecast that threatened to cause a 'heat out' earlier in the week, we were blessed with a perfect 30° day, filled with sunshine and smiles. The pool was refreshing, and I'm sure the temperature helped raise our numbers of participating students throughout the day.
The lap lanes were filled with swimmers, all being cheered on by their House Captains and friends alike. The novelty pool was in constant use, with games of netball and cork scramble being a huge hit. Thanks to the Year 11 Business Management class for cooking up a storm and keeping us all fed and hydrated. A special mention must go to Mr. Donald for agreeing to have the leftover esky ice water tipped over him if the price was right! The students then 'passed the bucket' to both students and staff, hoping to raise $50, and were able to raise a total of $64! This money, along with profits made from the BBQ, will be donated to the TKC Cancer Charity later in the year. That's a great achievement, and thanks to all involved. What a fun way to end the event.
The final results are as follows:
Dennis: 638
Maroondah: 414
Yarra: 359
Riddell: 221
Champions of the day:

Congratulations to all of our swimmers, with a special mention to Cooper Winter-Berry for entering nine events on the day! What a wonderful effort, Cooper.
Dennis House Captains' Report - By Mia and Belle
Healesville High’s annual swimming carnival was a blast and a ‘group effort’ to make an amazing day, as the theme this year was… groups and duos! We saw Disney princesses, chipmunks, Little Lunch characters and so many more awesome costumes!
Dennis came out on top by a mile, being over 200 points ahead than any other house, go Dennis! Maroondah was second place with 414 points, Yarra third with 359 points and finally, Riddell in fourth place with 221 points, don’t worry Riddell, there's always next year!
All age groups had fun in the novelty games of the cork scramble (possibly some cheating going on with teachers giving their house team advantage and tossing the corks closer to their side!) but nonetheless, it was great fun! Basketball was getting very competitive and we had big crowds and lots of cheering! The bombing competition at the very end is always a highlight, this year, Casey Symonds (Year 8) and Hayden Kelly (Year 11) equally shared the title of the winner, both with some huge splashes!
The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect, this made everyone get involved and have a good day down at the local pool.
Well done to all the very talented swimmers who went home with plenty of ribbons! And finally thank you to all the staff, this day wouldn’t be possible without you guys!
