Year 8 Camp

Year 8 Camp has come and gone! The year level ventured to Phillip Island CYC in Cowes for three days to explore what the Island had to offer. There were plenty of activities to keep them entertained on the first day, such as the Giant Swing, the Flying Fox, the Pinnacle climbing wall, and swimming.
The Pinnacle climbing wall was a particular highlight, with Ruby Collins almost surpassing the record of 6.04 seconds to the top, only falling slightly short at 6.31 seconds. Well done Ruby! The students were all eager to get into their cabins for some down time before heading to the Penguin Parade at dusk, to see the fairy penguins arriving to nest for the evening. We were back on the bus and back to camp at 9:30pm, and an early night was had by most, tuckered out after a day of activities.
We kicked off the next day with the Circatron (a medieval torturous looking device, that strapped students in at the ankles and had them moving around in loops on a track) and some trampoline time. After morning tea, we went down to CYW beach for a ‘Learn to Surf’ session with the local surfing providers. All students reported that the water was freezing, but they had so much fun! Well done to Ruby Collins, Jett Barclay,
Cooper Winter-Berry and Bryce Granger for getting up on multiple occasions!
Once the students were all showered and warm, we set off to Grumpy’s Mini Golf for an afternoon of fun, with Ruby Collins yet again taking out the best score of the day! To finish off the activities we spent an hour in the pool and had a movie night before crashing into bed. There were a lot of tired faces in need of a good night’s sleep.
In the morning, we took a walk down to the beach before boarding the bus back to San Remo for lunch, and then back to school for a much-needed weekend at home. Thanks for a great camp guys, looking forward to next year!
