Year 7 Fun Day

It has been a busy start to the year for our Year 7 students. Starting high school can be filled with many different emotions. One way we like to make our students feel comfortable settling into high school is with our Year 7 Fun Day.

This year our students attended Gumbuya World. This gave them the opportunity to build on friendships that they already have, and also develop new friendships and rapport with staff.

The day started off very quietly as I feel the students were still waking up for the day. As we approached Gumbuya World and saw the big sign, the buses erupted with sounds of joy and excitement.

Students spent the first half of the day going on rides and spending time in the wildlife area. The ride of the day seemed to be the Thunder Coaster, at which some students and staff lined up more than once. There were screams of fear and also laughter that came from this experience. There was also the odd comment of "I nearly died" as they came off the ride.  Special mention to Tasman McKern who was on the rollercoaster when it stopped mid-ride. Tas said "it was a great experience" and lined straight back up again.

The afternoon session consisted of the students participating on the wet side of the park. Everyone enjoyed time in the lazy river and then went on water slides. Everyone had smiles on their faces except for Miss Jackson who stepped outside of her comfort zone, with fear in her eyes and a scream that could be heard in Healesville.
