NAIDOC Week 2024

NAIDOC Week 2024 will be celebrated across Australia from July 7th to July 14th, 2024. The theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee is “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.” This theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture, with fire symbolizing connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

During this week, communities, businesses, schools, and local governments are encouraged to organize activities and events related to the theme. These can include arts-based activities, family fun days, cultural events, and sports activities that actively promote reconciliation.

Let’s come together to celebrate the oldest continuous living cultures on Earth and learn more about First

histories and cultures during NAIDOC Week!

SAMUAWGADHALGAL, TORRES STRAIT

‘Urapun Muy’, from the Kalaw Kawaw Ya dialect of the Top Western Islands of the Torres Strait, means ‘One Fire’. The title of this work pays homage to Torres Strait Islanders and Aboriginal people everywhere, as we all have that one fire: our passion for our culture.

Grade Prep - 3 have been learning about Indigenous Australia in Cultural Studies. Here is some work done by our students.
