Grade 6

DSC Visit, Term Two 2024

On the 13th of May, the Grade Six students and teachers walked to Doncaster Secondary College to experience a day in high school. We first separated into classes and all the teachers played fun games. We played interactive games and learnt more about our classmates. From exercises to would you rather games everyone had an enjoyable time. We also had an extremely educational tour. We went to the many art rooms and were surprised to see Mrs M’s amazing artwork from many years ago. One of the best experiences was the science experiment. The experiment was about transferring energy from lemons! After a whole day of experiencing a high school student's life we finally went out to the yard to have our snacks and saw all the classrooms and the clubs, ending the day with a fun game called capture the flag. After having this experience we cannot wait for the years ahead of us in high school.

William 6M - Our Grade Six Doncaster Secondary School visit was extraordinary, because of how different it was to our Primary School. The first thing we did when we got there was to go to the Year Seven facilities. The Year Sevens have their own building because they are new to the school which I find nice and welcoming. We did some activities in the building with some of the Doncaster Secondary School teachers including science and teamwork games. We then had a tour around the school which was enormous. Once the tour had finished, we went to play Capture the Flag outside, and we then went back to DPS. I personally found this experience to be very interesting because it shows us what it will be like next year.

Satia 6S - In Term Two, we visited Doncaster Secondary College and learned a lot by participating in different activities. We experienced Year Seven science, played fun games, and much more. We also had a tour of the school, which helped us understand where everything was and what we could do during recess and lunch. It was a fantastic day, and it helped me decide that I want to attend Doncaster Secondary College next year.

Future 6J - At Doncaster Secondary College the Grade Six students played games with their classes to get to know each other better. Some of the games included Movie Ball, Name that Country and Keep the Balloon Up. We also had a science lesson with a Doncaster Secondary College teacher who taught us about generating electricity using a lemon. Another DSC teacher showed us around the school on a school tour. I had a very fun day as we got to play Capture the Flag to finish it off!
