Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Camp

On the Duke of Edinburgh Camp we tried a range of different skills, such as hiking, bike riding, navigation, and how to successfully manage our campsites. We arrived at Cape Otway and immediately set off on our fist hike. By the end of this hike, our total distance was 15km, an incredible effort! At our first campsite, we set up our tents and began cooking. I ate a fantastic meal.
The next morning, I enjoyed some breakfast before gathering as a group to decide our trail for the day. We began hiking, and after some time, we encountered one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. While we were there, we saw many crabs, and one even tried to pinch me! For the next stretch of the hike, our tour guide assigned me the role as navigator. I was nervous at the start as it was a lot of pressure, however, I did get us to the campsite safely. After we set up our campsite and ate another great meal, the sun set and we played a similar game to hide-and-seek. It was really fun!
We finished the night with cake and a roleplaying game. On the third day we woke up at a bright and early 6.00 am. We started our bike ride and ended up at our pick-up spot 30 minutes before we had to get there. I was really happy with the speed I was going at especially since I am training for a triathlon. I feel like I made some new friends and talked to people I don't necessarily talk to. This was an amazing opportunity and I can't wait to go to Year 10 camp.
