From the Principal

Congratulations to all families and staff on a wonderful first term at Oxley Christian College. It is always encouraging to observe students engage in such a broad range of learning and co-curricular activities throughout the term. I wish to commend our students on the dedication and efforts they have shown throughout Term 1. 

 

At Oxley, students grow through inspired, Christ‑centred learning that sparks delight and shapes them into Scholars of Character. Throughout the year, our staff continue to embed a Biblical Worldview Framework into our curriculum where they intentionally plan through the lenses of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Our aim is that students are “filled not merely with facts that correspond to purposeless natural or social processes of cause and effect, but with a knowledge of the world as it relates to what is eternally True, Good, and Beautiful” (Turley, 2014, p. 89). This approach reflects our belief that Christ‑centred learning and knowledge provide an objective source of delight.

We are grateful to belong to a Christ-centred school community where our students are encouraged to reflect on what is True, Good, and Beautiful. At Oxley, our focus is to cultivate hearts and minds shaped by Christ. Drawing from Philippians 4:8, we intentionally guide students to reflect on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable, helping them grow in wisdom and virtue.

 

Finally, brothers and sisters, 

whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, 

whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—

if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

I anticipate you will see evidence of students’ contemplation of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty in a range of displays around the College on Open Day. We look forward to welcoming current and prospective families to our Open Day, which will commence at 11.00am on Saturday 2 May. Further details will be posted on our social media platforms and our website as the day approaches. Open Day also presents us with an opportunity to gather as a community to celebrate the learning that has taken place during Semester 1 and everything that makes our Christ-centred approach to education unique.

 

We begin the upcoming school holidays with Good Friday on 3 April. In the days ahead, we have an opportunity to pause and reflect on Jesus’ death and resurrection and the profound significance of these events. Romans 8:37 reminds us that “in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” As followers of Christ, we no longer need to fear death, for in Him we have the remarkable promise of eternal life as a new creation with our Heavenly Father.

 

This year, our theme, Following the Way, calls us to follow Christ’s example and to be imitators of Him. Throughout the Easter season, we are invited to deepen our relationship with Him through prayer and reflection. May this time of contemplation nurture our character and strengthen our faith.

We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday 20 April as we continue a Semester filled with rich learning and cocurricular experiences. I would also like to highlight our Dawn Service honouring the ANZACs on Friday 24 April, which is always a deeply meaningful, student‑led occasion on our College calendar.

 

I extend my warmest wishes to the Oxley community for a safe and restorative term break, and I pray that the blessings of Easter continue to be with us as we begin the new term.
