New reads to cosy up with

With the cool weather well and truly with us, there are some fresh additions waiting on the shelves at The Laurence Library. For our 11s and 12s, exams are over (yay!) so this week is a perfect chance to wander in and see what catches your eye.

For readers after something warm, visual and very easy to fall into, Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper series remains a favourite for good reason. Following Nick and Charlie as friendship grows into something more, this LGBTQIA+ graphic novel series is gentle, character-driven and full of moments about identity, connection, and finding your people.

Mystery fans may want to try Jennifer Lynn Barnes’ The Inheritance Games series. Avery  Grambs’ life changes overnight when she is unexpectedly drawn into a world of wealth, riddles and a very complicated family. It is fast-paced, twisty and ideal for readers who like secrets, clues and a bit of danger without the answers being handed to them.

We have also added some great non-fiction for sports fans. Check out A History of Basketball in Fifteen Sneakers, The Immortals of Australian Football, and Formula One 2026 for a mix of sporting history, iconic moments, legends of the game and up-to-date racing insights.
