Year 7 & 8
Head of Year, Mr Thomas Dempers
Last week, our Year 8 students enjoyed a fantastic experience at Jarrahfall Bush Camp in Dwellingup. From Wednesday to Friday, students embraced camp life and took part in a wide range of activities, including orienteering, rock climbing, abseiling, the flying fox, archery, mountain biking, and team-building challenges. They also enjoyed a night walk through the forest, which included a few surprises and plenty of laughter.
Despite the wet weather, morale remained high and students approached each activity with enthusiasm, courage, and a positive attitude. It was wonderful to see them supporting one another, stepping outside their comfort zones, and making the most of every opportunity.
A sincere thank you to all staff who attended camp and helped ensure everything ran smoothly. A special thank you also goes to Ms Yoxall for her hard work and organisation in making the camp such a successful experience.

“Year 8 camp was super fun! It was so relaxing to be able to enjoy the time away with friends and have a great time! From whispering in the dorms to singing at the top of our lungs, I think Year 8 camp was one me and my cohort will never forget.”
- Amelie Russell
“Year 8 camp was filled with laughs, activities and moments that we will never forget. From the activities to the late‑night cabin chaos, every day felt like a new highlight.”
- Micah Oh
“I personally think Year Eight camp was a massive memory that brought joy and satisfactory engagement to hopefully everyone that went. Each activity we were faced by over the three days brought us into new groups of people that we may or may not have talked to much. Placed in order to make new friendships, encourage teamwork and to just have a good camp.”
– Ben King
“Camp was so much fun, we did so many activities. We got to do a night walk, and it was so scary! All the teachers were jumping out at you. It was so much fun hanging out with all my friends and doing activities.”
- Abbie Byrne
“Camp was a fun and exciting experience where we did mountain biking, which was great exercise, as well as ziplining and abseiling down a wall. Each night we enjoyed a nice dinner after a busy day because we were all exhausted from the activities.”
- Harry White

Meanwhile, our Year 7 students have continued to settle well into the school term and are working hard in their classes. I encourage all Year 7 students to continue following the routines and expectations of the school, particularly when moving between campuses, using the lift appropriately, and showing respect to others. It has been great to see friendships continuing to develop as students grow in confidence and contribute positively to high school life.
