RUOK? Day
Cultural Inclusive Team
On 25th August, the Cultural Inclusive Team, accompanied by students from Years 7–11, had the privilege of visiting Bung Yarnda – Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust. Throughout the day, students participated in meaningful group discussions, providing an opportunity to listen, learn and reflect on our shared history.
We were fortunate to have Brandon Hood and Tristian Rose-Greaves guide us through the day, sharing their valuable knowledge about the significance of the land, cultural practices and traditions, before concluding the experience with a visit and walk through the church.
On our journey back to school, we stopped at the Lakes Entrance Esplanade Playground for lunch, where students had the opportunity to relax and reflect on the morning’s experiences. With the weather absolutely perfect, it was a wonderful day of learning, connection and cultural understanding.
Our students were a true testament to our school values, demonstrating respect, curiosity and a willingness to learn throughout the day. We are proud of the way they engaged with this meaningful experience.
Book week fun
World Cup Soccer tournament
The World Cup is a soccer competition played at lunch times three days a week; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Its goal is to connect students through sport and was opened to girls and boys from Years 7-12.
Nearly 80 students have been placed into 8 teams, that are named after seven of the countries that competed in the quarter finals of the recent Men’s World Cup and Australia They compete against each other in two pools of four teams. Every player is guaranteed at least three games. The top two teams from each group go through to the semi-finals played in Week 1 of Term 4 with the final scheduled to be played Wednesday 13 October (Week 2).
The competition is now halfway through, and we wish all the players the best of luck for the remaining games. Currently, Spain and England look tough to beat.
The games have been well supported by students coming to watch and teachers who have given up their time to referee games. Some students have also been involved in the organisation and running of the event and we would especially like to thank Cooper (Year 11), Rahsa (Year 9), Wilton (Year 11) and Bailey (Year 8) for their enthusiasm and support of the competition.
