Principal's Message
Dear Parent and Carers,
As we approach the end of Term 3, it has been wonderful to see our students out and about, making the most of the spring sunshine during their breaks. With the weather improving, there is plenty happening across the College, from sporting activities, outdoor classes and excursions to simply enjoying time together outdoors.
There is certainly plenty of excitement building around the College. Bairnsdale Secondary College recently hosted theEast Gippsland Junior Basketball at the BARC, the BSC World Cup Soccer Tournament is well underway, footy's are flying on the oval, numbers are growing for the down ball round robin and our Jeans for Genes 100 Skips challenge, just to name a few.
Our learning also continues to take us outdoors.Our Year 11 Biologystudents have been collecting valuable data in the wetlands that back onto the College. Students have also been busy in the garden, redesigning our ANZAC Memorial Garden, while others have been learning about landscapes, Country and culture through visits to our local Yarning Circle.
Recently, students from Years 7 to 11 had the opportunity to visit Bung Yarnda – Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust with members of our Cultural Inclusion Team. These experiences provide valuable opportunities for students to connect with Country, culture and community, and to deepen their understanding beyond the classroom.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up in the final week of Term 3. Parents and carers can book appointments via Compass. Anyone requiring assistance with bookings are encouraged to contact the College. Our wonderful administration team is always happy to assist.
Next week, we look forward to the opening night of our College Production – Hall of Fame on Friday 11th September, with additional performances on Saturday. Our students have been rehearsing and preparing for this production for a many months, and it will be fantastic to see all their hard work come to life on stage.
Local primary schools will also be joining us for a sneak-peek performance next week, and we look forward to welcoming them to the College.
We are also looking ahead to our Spring Concert, which will take place in the final week of Term 3. This is always a wonderful evening and a great opportunity for our students to showcase their musical talents and celebrate the many achievements of our instrumental music students.
There is certainly plenty happening across the College as we head towards the end of term. Thank you to our students, staff and families for the energy, enthusiasm and support they continue to bring to our College community.
