Notice of Asbestos Removal Works

The Department of Education will soon be undertaking some proactive asbestos removal works at Bairnsdale Secondary College at the Wallace Street Campus.

Asbestos-containing materials will be removed from the school grounds in strict accordance with the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017 and environmental Regulations. We will be working closely with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), the responsible body for asbestos removal and remediation works within the Department, to ensure disruption to students and staff is minimal.

Work will be undertaken by a licensed asbestos removalist engaged by the Department. As a further precaution, an Occupational Hygienist will monitor air quality during applicable removal works and must issue a clearance certificate before any person can re-occupy the area.

As a precaution, it is requested that parents and carers ensure that children are not on the school grounds between 21st September 2026 and 2nd October 2026. I appreciate your cooperation and patience during this process.

If you would like further information, you may contact me on 5150 4800 or by email: clare.stone@education.vic.gov.au

Pop up Grocery Store

Our Pop up Grocery Store is proving to be a great success and will be continuing next term.

Thanks to the generous support of our community partners, a range of food items will be available free of charge, including bread, long-life milk, fresh fruit and vegetable.

We encourage all families and students to take advantage of this opportunity. Whether you would like to pick up a loaf of bread, some milk, or fresh produce, everyone is welcome.

To ensure the success of this program for our community, we ask that students and families only take what they need. Food provided through this initiative is intended to support students and families and should not be wasted, damaged, or used inappropriately. By working together and using the program respectfully, we can help ensure that this support remains available to those who need it most.

We look forward to seeing students and families at the Pop-Up Food Store this term, thank everyone for helping make this initiative a success.
