Student Voice Team

Welcome New Members! 

We are excited to welcome our new Student Voice Team (SVT) members for Semester Two. These students have stepped up to represent their peers by embracing the qualities we value most: Respect, Responsibility, Commitment, and Cooperation.

As excellent role models, our Year Group Representatives demonstrate regular attendance, uphold school expectations including uniform standards, and actively advocate for our school values. They lead by example in all community settings to ensure a positive and inclusive environment for everyone.

These representatives are dedicated to improving our school environment and enhancing the schooling experience for their fellow students. Acting as the voice for their year groups, they will bring ideas, concerns, and feedback directly to the Student Voice Team.

We look forward to working with this enthusiastic group and seeing the positive impact they will have across our school community!

Carries Place Donation

We are proud to share that the Student Voice Team (SVT) recently donated $500 to local business Carrie's Place. This generous contribution will directly support families in our community experiencing domestic and family violence or homelessness, by helping them access food and essential resources.

The funds were raised through a series of BBQs hosted by the SVT during the recent events such as the athletics carnival. A big thank you to our very hungry staff and students— your support made this possible!

The donation was presented at the PBL assembly, highlighting the positive impact of our school community coming together to make a difference.

SVT Students Advocate for Improved Toilet Cleanliness and Awareness

Female-identifying students within the Student Voice Team recently raised important concerns about the cleanliness of the school toilets, particularly regarding the improper disposal of sanitary items. They also identified a lack of awareness among students about the support available for accessing sanitary products.

Working closely with the FGHS Girls Adviser these students brainstormed practical solutions and created informative posters to educate their peers about proper disposal practices and the supports in place. 

Their initiative not only promotes a cleaner and more welcoming environment but also empowers female students by raising awareness and ensuring their needs are met. A short survey will be provided to a focus group to measure the success of the posters. 

We commend these students for their proactive approach and dedication to improving our school community.

Future Events: Red Nose Day Thursday Week 6 

Get ready to show your support for a great cause! 

On Thursday Week 6, the Student Voice Team is hosting a Red Nose Day event to raise money and awareness for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Students are encouraged to wear red to school for a gold coin donation. SVT volunteers will be collecting these donations during Period 2.

There will also be plenty of fun activities throughout the day, including:

• A sausage sizzle available during TeamTime and Lunch for $2

• Red noses for sale at $3 each

• A “Guess the Number of Lollies in the Jar” competition for a gold coin donation

• Nine Square in the Quad
