Defence School Mentor News

Defence Group kicked off Term 3 with ‘Defence Café’ in the MPC, where we enjoyed hot chocolates and chatted about our school holidays.
In week 3 we took an excursion to Fighter World Museum at Williamtown. The students toured a collection of military aircraft and learned about the important roles they played in Australia’s defence history.
Following the tour, we enjoyed lunch overlooking the runway shared between RAAF Base Williamtown and Newcastle Airport, with many aircraft taking off and landing. We were joined by some of our Defence parents, who added to the occasion and shared in the experience with us. It was a wonderful day filled with learning, discovery and memorable moments, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Soon we will hold our trivia competition for the term, the theme will be ‘Heroes and Villains’ and as always, prizes and bragging rights will be up for grabs!
As the term progresses, I will hold individual check-in chats with our Defence students. These one-on-one sessions provide an opportunity to cultivate positive relationships, set goals, and work together to build resilience.
If you are a Defence family and your child is not currently involved in the Defence School Mentor Program, please notify the school so they can be included.
