Welcome New Staff

Sean Alston, Assistant Principal

Hello to everyone in the North Melbourne Primary School community. I'm very excited to be joining you in 2026 as an acting assistant principal based at the Molesworth campus. I've been a passionate educator for a long time as a teacher and leader. Another passion of mine is travelling and I've been lucky enough to combine these two loves by teaching in a range of places around the world including Ethiopia, Nepal, Korea and The Maldives. 

Outside of work I enjoy hanging out with my two boys, aged 2 and 4, and my wife. Being physically active makes me very happy; anything from running, hiking, going to the gym, cycling - you name it, I love it!

Ahmed Al - Hameli, 3B

I moved to Australia from the United Arab Emirates 11 years ago and this is my 6th year teaching, but my very first in the big city. In my spare time I enjoy figure skating, picnics and reading a good book in the park. I am so excited to be teaching grade 3s at North Melbourne Primary school and have really enjoyed the warm welcome I have received already.

I am an experienced teacher who has joined NMPS this year. 

I am working in the Molesworth Street Campus taking small group instruction for Literacy and Numeracy. 

I have a husband and 2 children (aged 21 and 23). I love dogs and currently have an almost 4-year-old Cavoodle. 

When I am not teaching, I love to quilt, so I have included a couple of my works in these photos. I love to bake as I have a sweet tooth. I am also a Collingwood                                                                                                      supporter and watch all their games.

Emily Ding, PrepC

Hi! I’m Emily, and I’m very excited to join North Melbourne Primary School. I have been teaching for 15 years and continue to love my job. Outside of Melbourne, I have also taught in London and Toronto. I love travelling, have visited over 30 countries and hope to visit every continent one day. I’m looking forward to having a great year of learning with Prep C!

Hello! I am really excited to be part of the North Melbourne Primary School community. Thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome! I have taught in Echuca, Bendigo, Auckland and Vancouver. Outside of school, I love spending time with family and friends. My favourite hobby is travel, and I'm always eager to visit and learn about new places. I'm looking forward to a fantastic year ahead at NMPS! 

Rebecca Zhong, 5E

Hello! I’m really excited to teach Year 5 this year. I grew up in Shanghai, the largest and most cosmopolitan city in China, and moved to Australia several years ago. I enjoy reading, going to the theatre to watch plays and musicals and travelling abroad. I’m very much looking forward to being part of the NMPS community!
