Visions and Inspirations
Welcome back to school! Here are some things the Year 6s have been up to so far.
Maths
By Mae, Eamon, Nacha and Evan
Our first maths task this year was an assignment called four 4s. It was a game where we had to use the number 4 four times to make every sum from one to twenty using the four operations. In week 2, we are starting Maths Pathway. Maths Pathway is an online learning platform that adapts to the level you are at in maths. It revises things you already know and just need to go over again, and teaches you things that you haven’t learnt just yet, progressing you further in your personal experience with mathematics. We are excited to explore new maths concepts and gain more knowledge throughout our grade 6 maths journey.
Can you think of a way to use four 4s to make 11? Or 13?
Writing
By Lotte, Sulaiman, Luffy and Desi
This week, in writing, we have been working on our vision boards and also starting our Writer’s Notebooks. Vision boards are inspiration for writing and positive notes & quotes to keep us going with our writing and not to give up.
Ava printed out some sheets of pictures like positive notes like growth mindset, trust the process & a bunch of other things to do with writing. We also wrote our goals for writing that we wanted to achieve & motivational quotes from famous authors. We stuck & wrote everything down into our writers notebook and made our Vision boards on the first page so we could come back whenever to motivate ourselves & if we’re stuck.
Classroom Decoration
By Yusra, Akmam, Layla and Aspen
The first week of school was when we started grade six and we decided that the windows were too bland and we needed to change them. Ava showed us some photos from Pinterest of collaged birds and we all discussed that we could do any animals or plants as long as they were still collaged. We first started cutting the pieces with a diversity of colourful patterns.
Secondly, we stuck them together to make different animals. Not everyone has finished so we will put them up this week. Please enjoy some of our finished pieces here in this newsletter!

In Art we made postcards with markers pin pointing what we did on the holidays in art with our teacher Tess. Then in Cooking we looked in the garden for plants and we found the names but surprisingly we didn’t cook, yet. Lastly, in PE we did tons of stuff like skipping ropes, pickle ball, volleyball and more!
The Year to Come
By Tia, Johnson, Brandon, Lucas and Harry
We are looking forward to going to Fun Fields, Ski Camp and school swimming.
It is going to be a very fun year. This year we will do many fun things like cooking, maths pathway, and more. This year is the final year of primary school and we want it to be our best. We also have amazing athletic activities like cross country, athletics day and swimming districts. Moving on, there’s a fete at the end of the year and excursions scattered throughout the year.
