VCE VM Pat Cronin Foundation Talk

VCE VM Pat Cronin Foundation Talk

On Friday August 14th our VM cohort welcomed Aidan Phelan from the Pat Cronin Foundation to the PAC to lead the 'Violence is Never OK' workshop. Some key learnings our students took away included: Recognising that violence is never an acceptable way to resolve conflict, Differentiating between feelings of anger and actual acts of violence. Describing at least one emotional, physical, and social impact of violent behaviour. Demonstrating one or more effective conflict resolution or communication strategies and recognising help-seeking behaviours and identifying support within school and community networks.

Here is what some of our students had to say about the workshop.

"Aidan cam into the Pac and delivered a moving workshop to our VM cohort about the need to end the coward punch" Angus.
"Aidan discussed violence and the importance of preventing violence when angry" Archie. "Aidan told the story of Pat Cronin and how coward punches can be deadly." Matt.
"Aidan was a great speaker and delivered the best Pat Cronin speech I've ever heard" Lucas.
"We learnt that one violent decision can have serious consequences and effect the lives of many people" Sophie.
