Book Week

We had a fabulous week in the Library celebrating all things books, with a packed program of activities, challenges, trivia and plenty of bookish fun!

We started on Monday with acrylic bookmark making. Students used vinyl stickers and paint pens to create their very own personalised bookmarks – and there were some seriously creative designs!

On Tuesday, we got crafty again with our zine-making workshop. Students cut, pasted, drew and folded their way to creating handmade zines, with fantastic ideas on display. A huge thank you to Ms Burn and Mr Kelly for running the workshop!

Wednesday brought a challenge: could students identify five shredded books in jars? (Don’t worry – they were photocopies, so no books were harmed in the process!) We received an impressive 83 correct entries, which all went into the draw to win a $25 QBD voucher. Congratulations to Indigo, our lucky winner! 🎉

On Thursday, we put everyone's book knowledge to the test with a Book Trivia Kahoot, featuring questions about some of the most popular books in the Library. 28 teams took part - and the top five teams all scored 76%, so it came down to speed to decide the podium places. Huge congratulations to our winners: Maxine, Maya, Hiyori, Emily, Jerry, Sumaya, Yiru and Fia! 🏆

A big thank you to Ms Goodman for hosting the Kahoot, and to 2024 VBC graduate Katelyn, who generously donated a fantastic selection of books for our prize trolley.

Friday was all about book character costumes, with some fantastic student and staff costumes spotted around the school.

Throughout the week, we also had two interactive displays in the Library. Thank you to everyone who added musical notes to our display and shared their favourite songs to accompany their reading.

A huge well done to everyone who participated throughout the week. We loved celebrating books, reading and our wonderful library community with you all!
