Year 7 Futsal

On 8th of September, the year 7 girls went to Latrobe sports centre to play Futsal.

The first game was a challenge against the eventual winners of the day with a very competitive 2-3.

The girls hit their stride against Macloed in the second game 6-1. Their final game was very well matched against Greensborough with a tie of 3-3.

The whole team worked together with Mizu and Evie volunteering to get the ball kicked at them on goals, Ava B, Fotini C, Raffael W, Aria Y in midfield supporting defence and getting the ball down to the strikers, Mizu M and Evie L keeping the ball away from the goals and Emma and Mccaela as the very strong strikers.

There were many highlights including Mccaela scoring 7 goals in the day, Emma scoring a goal in each of the games (including one with a superb assist from Ruby R) and Sophie D also getting a goal against Macleod.

The boys also competed, and whilst they didn't win that day, they played competitively throughout the day and making it into the 3rd place playoffs.

Quinn and Sammy who were strong all day with

Sammy controlling the game well. Charlie made some great saves in goals and Quinn kicked a lot of goals. Coca and Daniel were great defence: and there would have been a much bigger deficit without them. Xavier was also integral, getting the ball to the strikers.

Both teams showed great sportsmanship throughout the day and competitive spirit, even having enough energy to play a friendly against each other at the end of the day.

Victorian Interschools Ski Championships

Year 7 student Archie Downes has proudly represented Viewbank across three different sporting events this year, competing in Cross Country as well as Alpine Giant Slalom and Ski Cross.

In Cross Country, Archie finished an impressive 18th in Division 3, narrowly missing out on qualification for the National Interschools Championships.

More recently, Archie competed in the Alpine Giant Slalom and Ski Cross events, finishing 72nd in Alpine and 56th in Ski Cross. With more than 220 competitors in each event and challenging conditions, these were fantastic results and a great achievement.

Archie was extremely proud to represent Viewbank and very happy with his performances across all three events.

We congratulate Archie on his commitment, determination and sportsmanship and hope his achievements inspire more Viewbank students to get involved in these opportunities next year.

We would love to see an even stronger Viewbank presence at future competitions!
