Visual Art Excursion

On Monday, 23 June, the Year 11 and 12 Visual Arts students spent the day on an excursion to the Art Gallery of Western Australia and the WA Museum Boola Bardip.
The day began with a series of creative exercises, including sketching and mind mapping, designed to stimulate visual thinking and artistic exploration. Following this, students undertook a guided tour of the Pulse exhibition at the Art Gallery—an impressive collection showcasing artworks by Year 12 students from across Western Australia’s 2024 cohort. The exhibition featured a diverse range of amazing artworks, offering valuable inspiration as our students begin conceptualising their own major projects for the upcoming term.
A particular point of pride was the inclusion of a work by Mazenod alumnus Seb Atkinson, whose piece has been exceptionally well received. Gallery staff noted that his artwork has proven especially popular among visitors.
In the afternoon, students visited the WA Museum Boola Bardip, where they viewed the finalist works from The Lester Prize. This provided a fitting conclusion to a day filled with artistic insight and creative inspiration.
