Containers for Change
As part of the College Sustainability Group, we participate in the Containers for Change recycling program. Students and staff are encouraged to recycle all their drinks containers, which are then collected by Containers for Change each week. Cans/bottles are then sorted into their different material types, taken to a processing facility and prepared for recycling. Accredited recyclers purchase the recycled material and give them another life as new containers or other products!
Mazenod College is currently the second highest school in the Perth Metro for recycling drinks with Containers for Change, with a staggering 38,635 drinks containers recycled this financial year and also the top private school in the State for collections – not a bad achievement.
This program not only fosters environmental consciousness among staff and students but also serves as a fundraising tool, with proceeds from the program going towards sustainable community and school projects.
Huge thanks to the students and staff in their recycling efforts and to the Groundsmen, who ensure all the recycling is sent off to be reinvented!
Containers for Change makes it easy to turn your empty containers into change for a good cause. We have a Mazenod College number that you can donate directly to. Keep it in your phone for your next drop off.
