Year 10 Italian

🧀 Campionato Ruzzola – Year 10 Italian Class Event Recap

Ending Term 2 and their Unit 1 studies in Italian, the Year 10 Italian class brought history to life with a fun and educational twist on the ancient Italian tradition of Ruzzola, a game that dates to the Etruscan era. Traditionally, this game involved rolling a wheel of Parmigiano cheese down a path - a practice that’s both culturally rich and, nowadays, quite expensive!

To keep the spirit alive (and the budget intact), students used a wheel substitute to compete in teams. A total of 6 teams participated in this lively and engaging event.

🎯 Event Highlights:

  • Linked to the Term 2 theme of childhood memories, focusing on traditional games and food.
  • Students learned about the cultural significance of Ruzzola and how it connects to Italian heritage.
  • Two teams emerged victorious, proudly taking home the ‘Campionato Ruzzola’ trophy.
  • All students were rewarded with a nostalgic Italian treat: mini individually wrapped cakes, a beloved snack enjoyed by Italian children for generations
