Year 12
Trial HSC Examinations
Now that Year 12 students are back at school following the Trial HSC Examinations, it is crucial that all students are at school every day and in every lesson. Regardless of individual Trial results, the remainder of Term 3 is the time to carefully review teacher feedback, identify areas for improvement and use this information to prepare for the HSC Examinations.
Post-Trial HSC Study Planning
A post has been added to the Year 12 Google Classroom titled “Post HSC Trial Exams – How to plan your study time between now and your actual HSC exams.” All Year 12 students are strongly encouraged to read the post and use the advice to create a realistic study plan for the remaining weeks.
A strong post-Trial study plan should be based on teacher feedback and include regular revision of course content, completion and correction of past HSC questions, timed examination practice, and deliberate time to revisit weaker areas. Students should plan their study across the whole week rather than relying on long, irregular study sessions.
2026 HSC Written Examination Timetable
The 2026 HSC Written Examination period will begin on Tuesday 13 October and conclude on Thursday 5 November. The 2026 HSC written examination timetable has been released by NESA.
All HSC candidates are strongly encouraged to log into Students Online and check their personalised timetable carefully, including the date, start time and examination centre for every examination.

Year 11
Year 11 – Yearly Examination Block
Year 11 students will participate in the Yearly Examination Block during the final weeks of Term 3. Students have received their personalised examination timetable from Mr Dean.
During the examination block, regular timetabled lessons will not operate. Students are required to attend all scheduled examinations and Wednesday sport in accordance with the Senior School Assessment Guidelines.
Reminders for every examination:
Students must arrive at least 30 minutes before each scheduled examination begins.
Students must be in full school uniform.
Student ID cards are required for every examination and should be placed on the allocated table.
Only NESA-approved calculators may be used where calculators are permitted.
Water bottles must be clear and see-through.
All equipment must be brought in a clear pencil case or clear bag.
Black pens are to be used for writing. No white out.
Mobile phones and smart watches are not permitted. They must be turned off and stored as directed by the supervising teacher.

SAVE THE DATE! - 2027 Year 12 HSC Parent Information Webinar
Epping Boys High School will hold a 2027 Year 12 HSC Parent Information Webinar on Thursday 15 October at 5:00 pm. Parents/carers and Year 12 students are strongly encouraged to attend.
The webinar will provide important information about Year 12 expectations and privileges, the Assessment Task Schedule, and the Assessment Task Guidelines, Rules and Regulations.
A Microsoft Teams invitation link will be emailed to parents/carers by 2:00 pm on Thursday 15 October. A recording will also be made available for families who are unable to attend.
Year 10
HSC Minimum Standard
Earlier this year, Year 10 students completed the first round of the HSC Minimum Standard reading, writing and numeracy tests. Congratulations to the many students who have already demonstrated the required standard.
Students who were absent or who still need to demonstrate the standard will have further opportunities to sit the relevant test or tests. Parents/carers will be contacted when additional testing is scheduled.
2027 Year 11 Subject Selections
Year 10 students have now completed their initial subject selections for Year 11 in 2027. Students should continue to think carefully about their strengths, interests, future pathways and the overall balance of their senior course load. Subject selection is the beginning of senior school planning, not the end of it.
This term, Year 10 will have some quiet periods without Assessment Task deadlines, making it the perfect opportunity to review and update all subject Cornell notes.
