Social Science
We have begun Term 3 with a focus on Year 12 and their trial examinations. In Social Science, we have prepared the boys with plenty of practice writing, peer marking and group work study exercises. The trial examinations represent the culmination of 4 terms of hard work, and we wish the boys the best for this period.
Following their exams, Year 12s will begin to engage in reflective feedback to focus on where to improve as we prepare ahead to their final HSC exam.
Our Year 7 and 8 Geography cohorts have started their unit on Water in the World. With all the news of heatwaves and droughts in Europe, students are being encouraged to stay up-to-date on current issues related to water availability and use in Australia and globally. I would also like to encourage all parents to sit with their boys and watch the news to assist in their sons' understanding of all Social Science courses from Years 7-12.
At the end of last term the year 9 and 11 Business Studies students participated in our annual Business Day event. It was another very successful year with an abundance of businesses that were well planned and operated (see article below).

Business Day 2026
18th June’s EBHS Business Day held alongside Multicultural Day was a momentous day, showcasing the professional excellence of the Business Day stalls ran by Year 9 students in Accelerated Business Studies and Year 11 Business Studies students. The hall and surrounding areas were buzzed with activity as students flocked to stalls, wishing to purchase items like wallets, sunglasses, Pokémon cards and a range of jewellery.
Despite the disadvantage of operating without EFTPOS machines, nearly all businesses reported a profit with a select few selling out entirely of products. All profits generated were collected by the school and $1,500 was donated to the McGrath Foundation supporting the independent fundraising campaign by the Prefects.
Ultimately, it was not the final financial report that quantified the achievements of these students, but rather the intangible lifelong skills that were learnt along the way. Managing stock, adhering to budgets, creating compelling advertisements and collaborating as a team are skills that every Business Day student is going to take with them into the working world.
