Careers Expo Success
The Career Expo, held on Tuesday 21 July in the EBS, was a great success. Students from Years 10, 11 and 12, along with their families, had the valuable opportunity to engage directly with the industry experts, tertiary education providers, training organisations, and potential employers.
The evening offered insight into a broad spectrum of career pathways, helping students make informed decisions about their future subject selections and post-school plans. The Expo featured representatives from esteemed institutions and organisations such as Macquarie University, UNSW, UTS, The University of Sydney, TAFE NSW, Australian Defence Force, Sydney Flight School and many more.
Whether students were considering university study, vocational education, apprenticeships, traineeships, or direct employment, the Careers Expo provided the platform to ask questions, gather vital information, ad explore career possibilities.
It is through clear exploration, asking questions and reflecting on the details that boys are empowered to make effective decisions for their future.
Work Experience
Discussion and research are one path to gain understanding through experiences itself serves as a rich endeavor to test possibilities. This is the value of Work Experience available to our senior students.
Students interested in arranging work experience are encouraged to visit the Careers Office. To set up a placement, students will need the name and contact details of a supporting employer who is willing to them. Sometimes opportunities may come through family, friends, or community involvement, so don't hesitate to reach out to your networks as well.
Parents and carers continue to be an essential part of making work experience possible, If you are able to offer a placement within your workplace to Epping students, or can connect us with local employers, your input is invaluable. The duration and tasks completed during a placement are flexible to accommodate the needs of the employer.

Leadership Lunch: Nurturing Tomorrow’s Leaders Today
Epping recently hosted a vibrant and collaborative Leadership Lunch, bringing together student leaders from across the school community. The event welcomed the Student Representative Council (SRC), mentors, sport and house captains, SWAT leaders, CAPA captains, Books and Brekky, Homework Club, and Prefects, creating a dynamic forum for leadership development.
Highlighting the afternoon was a panel discussion featuring distinguished community leaders. We were honoured to have Mr Julian Leeser MP Member for Berowra, Superintendent Vince Hole of the Ryde Area Police Command, Mr Shayan Khoshab, Premier League Manager of Epping Eastwood Football Club and EBHS Vice Captain 2007, and Mr Daniel Hurd, Director of Educational Leadership, join us to share their insights and experiences.
The panel explored key themes of leadership including core values, balancing the needs of tasks, teams, and individuals, navigating the pressures of decision making, and maintaining integrity through honesty, empathy, and staying true to one’s principles. These discussions provided our student leaders with a deeper understanding of what it means to lead with purpose and compassion.
Following the panel, student leaders engaged in discussion designed to identify their individual strengths and uncover opportunities for teamwork and shared leadership throughout the coming year. Students made connections previous overlooked and reinforced the importance of unity and collective effort in effective leadership.
The Schools Leadership Lunch was an outstanding afternoon that showcased the promise and potential of leadership within Epping. We thank all participating student leaders for their enthusiasm and commitment, as well as our esteemed panel guests for their invaluable contributions.
Our student leaders today are the societal leaders of tomorrow. The essential life skills they continue to develop each day equip them to transition confidently from their roles within the school to responsible, empathetic and engaged leaders of the future.
