World Cup Fever Hits the Library!
With exams now done and dusted, it was time to bring a new spark into the library and what better time than with the FIFA World Cup kicking off!
Students have been swarming into the library before school, at recess and during lunchtimes to catch up on all the action and support their favourite teams.
As a fun send-off to Term 2, the Library is hosting a World Cup Prediction Competition open to all staff and students.
To enter, simply predict:
- The two teams that will compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Grand Final; and
- The final winning score.
Entries close at the end of Friday 26 June, with the winner to be announced on Monday 20 July. All entries to be placed in the box in the library.

Lamont Warehouse Book Sale
I think it is every librarians dream to be let loose in a warehouse full of books. Well, that dream became a reality for the Patterson River Secondary College library team when we were fortunate enough to attend the Lamont Books warehouse sale.
After spending time browsing the incredible selection on offer, we returned with a haul of 101 new books for our library collection. These additions include a diverse range of genres, age levels and engaging titles that we know our students will enjoy.
Keep an eye on our shelves in the coming months as these fantastic new reads are catalogued and made available for borrowing. We can't wait to share them with our library community!

High Interest Books
The library has recently added a number of high interest YA novels to our collection. These books are designed to engage older students, reluctant readers, or English learners. They feature mature, exciting, or relatable content but use simplified sentences and lower-level vocabulary to prevent frustration.

Crocheting for Teens

For kids aged 13 - 16 years. Want to try something fun, creative and a little bit “granny craft”? This beginner crochet session for ages 13 to 16 will teach you the basics in a relaxed, hands-on way. You will learn simple stitches and how to turn yarn into something you can actually use.
By the end, you will make your own crochet bookmark to take home, perfect for your current read or as a gift. No experience needed. Just come along, hang out and give something new a go.
