Physical Education News

Dear Tarneit Rise Primary School Families and Friends
Welcome back to another action-packed PE newsletter! The students have been working very hard this term, and as we come to the crunch time, they are really shining!
Student Shoutout
Cross Country Team
Our Cross-Country team competed in the Division Cross Country this week, well done to all of our students you have all smashed it!
Preps - Grade 2
Our Junior year grades have been working very hard over the last 2 weeks as we have been assessing what the students have been learning. Last week, we assessed the students' movements and their ability to transition between these movements through our Fundamental Movement Skills test. Some main points of focus for practicing at home would be our high catch and throw. For the catch, ensuring that a triangle hand position is used rather than a bucket and making sure that when throwing, students are standing in a skateboard stance, once to aim, bunny's ear grip, and two to make sure.
Grades 3 - 6
Our Senior years have been spent completing the CAPL test, the Canadian Assessment of Physical Literacy. Students showed how well they can move and showed where they need to improve. This week, students also completed their Invasion Games unit assessment. They showed how much they have learned throughout the unit and how they can create space and move the ball efficiently to benefit their team.
Team of the Week
Team of the week is a starting 11 of students who have shown the school values in all areas of PE. They may not always be the most talented, but they have the best attitudes and eagerness to learn when it comes to PE.

We are also running a Term Two promotion for this program at a reduced rate of just $15/session to make it more inclusive for families.
