Athletics and AFLW

On the right track

Last year, Mrs Campbell approached the PE Department to flag the idea of having the Interhouse Athletics Carnival at the WA Athletics Stadium. And so, a new chapter began – and what a fantastic idea it was! The stadium has two venues to host every event, which meant we did not have to run events before the carnival day.

Student participation and involvement is always outstanding on carnival days and this one was no exception. Students are commended on their outstanding representation in the events and their tenacity on the track.

Our Seniors set the atmosphere with their amazing dress-ups and camaraderie for their Houses. Many thanks to the Student Guild for their work and assistance in the organisation of the day. Congratulations to Gandhi House who won the 2024 Interhouse Athletics Shield and also to our individual champion medal winners.

AFL kicks off with a win

On the last day of July, an excited bunch of Year 9 & 10 girls represented St George’s in our inaugural AFLW Team - competing in the ACC’s Freo Dockers Cup. The Dragons won their first game, played at Altone Park, then lost two games and won one more! We enjoyed the challenge and can’t wait to complete again. Many thanks to Ms Amy Perejmibida for her coaching expertise and congratulations to the following girls.
