The importance of Pastoral Care Groups

Our PCGs are designed to promote a sense of belonging to the House and are a safe and supportive space from which to commence each school day. Students join a PCG in Year 7 and remain with this group, and PCG tutor, for the duration of their journey at St George’s.

The vertical structure of the group promotes connections across year groups and leadership opportunities for our senior students, and with siblings allocated to the same groups a family feel is established. There is also correlation between PCG attendance and a successful school day.

PCG is vital for our Year 7 and 8 students. It is the time when they are expected to read the Daily Notices, check SEQTA for Direct Messages from teachers or notes about room changes, become informed about uniform requirements, complete their PULSE check-in and have their attendance marked. It is also the time when House meetings and inter-PCG competitions are held.

This week tutors will be contacting the parents of those students who are regularly arriving late and thus missing some, or all, of PCG. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support them in ensuring punctuality each day.
