Gandhi House

A triumphant trifecta!

Wow. What an incredible accomplishment for Gandhi House, taking the win in all three major sports carnivals this year, with the announcement of our win in the 2024 Interhouse Athletics Carnival. This is an amazing achievement and a great reflection of the talent, commitment and enthusiasm of all Gandhi students. We also had a number of individual Gandhi winners who are to be congratulated on their superb efforts throughout the day.

I hope all the Gandhi athletes have been inspired by the incredible performances at the Paris Olympics and continue to shine as we work towards the ACC Athletics Carnival.

During Week 4, we also celebrated our Term Three House Week. Students competed across three different events including Just Dance, an Academic Olympiad and Task Master activities. Thanks to all students who represented Gandhi House and earned valuable House Points towards the 2024 House Cup.

There are always many successes and stories of triumph and resilience amongst these House days. Congratulations to all students involved. Go Gandhi!

Doing our best

As it is often the case, we have started the term with many exciting events. With the production of Frozen Jr done and dusted, we quickly shifted our attention to the Interhouse Athletics Carnival. I was pleased to see the number of Lincoln students participating in the events and doing their best throughout the day.

There were many instances in which we were just behind Gandhi in our races! Going forward, I encourage students to ensure they also participate in as many afternoon events as possible next year.

Currently we are practicing for Battle of the Bands, which will be held in Week 7. We have had a huge turnout for Lincoln students interested in joining and I am excited to see what they are able to put together for the night.

Finally, I would like to remind our Junior students to ensure that they complete their PULSE check-ins every week. As I had stated in a previous article, for Lincoln Charity Day, youth mental health has been an increasingly large issue in education. The check-ins allow us to gain insight into how the students are tracking, with the data being invaluable in gauging student happiness and satisfaction plus allowing us to support them to feel well and manage the bumps of adolescents that happen to us all within our schooling journey.

Mandela House

Social calendar

A big thank you to the parents and guardians who braved the wet and windy conditions to attend the Mandela Sundowner last Thursday evening. It was lovely to see so many there. You are a vital part of our extended family, and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet you, see you again, and get to know you better. Thank you to PCG Tutors and Wil Moesker our House Captain for speaking at the event, and to Zara Jones, Alec Farrell, Lawson Forester and Isla Andrews our School Captain for your performance.

Mandela made us all very proud at the Athletics Carnival recently, having the most participation and, out of more than 2500 points, missing out on first by just over 100 points. Great to see so many upper school students dressing up in green and leading the House Spirit charge. We even had two dinosaurs.  Congratulations to Gandhi on the win and thank you to Lincoln for the great competition.

This week kicked off the House Week events. The House system aims to encourage and support the many talents and gifts of all students through the various events at school. This term we have an Academic Olympiad, a Task Master Challenge and Just Dance Competition. Good luck to all students! May the best House win.
