Year 7 Transition
A Strong Start for Year 7
As we begin a new school year, it is a pleasure to share some wonderful news about how positively our Year 7 students have settled into high school life.
The transition into secondary school is a significant milestone, and our Year 7 cohort has embraced it with confidence and enthusiasm. Students have been enjoying their newfound independence, navigating new routines, and engaging with a wide range of learning opportunities across the school. It has been lovely to see them taking pride in their responsibilities and growing in confidence each day.
The impact of our comprehensive transition program throughout 2025 has been clearly evident. Compared to this time last year, we have seen a 15% increase in Year 7 students achieving attendance above 90%, which is a fantastic outcome and a strong indicator of positive engagement with school. Staff have also reported a significant reduction in negative behaviours, allowing classrooms to remain calm, focused, and supportive learning environments.
Perhaps most importantly, new friendships have formed across classes and peer groups. Students are building connections, supporting one another, and developing a strong sense of belonging within our school community. A fantastic opportunity to continue building these relationships will be attending Year 7 Camp. See below for more details!
These early successes are a credit to our students, families, and staff working together to ensure a smooth and supportive transition. We are incredibly proud of how our Year 7 students have started the year and look forward to watching them continue to grow, learn, and thrive.
I am also pleased to share that the transition process for Year 7, 2027 has now commenced. We look forward to welcoming our future families to our BBQ and Information Evening on Tuesday 3 March from 3:00–5:30pm. This will be a great opportunity to meet staff, ask questions, and learn more about the transition to high school. Please see the flyer below for further details.
