Ground Works

In late 2024, our school was awarded an Inclusive Schools Grant of $250,000 to build a new playground that would cater for the needs of all of our students. This playground will be located on the site currently called the ‘Upper Playground’ or the ‘Grade 1 and 2 Playground’ and was designed by Ed Ewers Architecture.
Plans have now been finalised with the contract administrator (City Living Property Services) on how the playground will be built, the timeline and how the build will impact the school.
The building contractors will be onsite from Friday 13th June. The build will commence on Monday 16th June and will continue from then (Week 9) over the term break. The current estimated completion date is Monday 21st July 2025 which is the first day of Term 3.
We have worked extensively with the Contract Administrators to minimise the impact this build will have both on student learning and on our community. Whilst the area directly around the build area will be fenced off, the fence design will ensure that classroom access will not be affected. There will be one area of the school (between Rooms 17 and Rooms 21) that will need to have an operator with a Stop/Go sign for times when machinery will be moving to ensure students/teachers/visitors will be supervised and kept safe, but machinery movement in this part of the site will be infrequent.
IMPORTANT
One major impact for our community will be that the rear or back gate to the school that leads to Northumberland Circuit will need to be closed for the duration of the build (i.e. from Friday 13th June to Monday 21st July).
Our community that currently uses this gate for morning drop offs and afternoon pick ups will need to use the library or oval gate for the duration of the build. We do apologise for this unavoidable inconvenience.
We are very excited to be so close to getting a new playground space for our students and look forward to celebrating the build with you when it is complete.
Warm regards
