Visual Art

Foundation

This week, the Foundation students took great pride in looking back at the artworks they’ve created throughout the semester. With excitement, they selected coloured backing paper and arranged their work for display. They enjoyed sharing the stories behind their pieces with their peers, proudly explaining their colour choices and how their artwork made them feel. This reflection activity helped build confidence and communication skills as they celebrated their creativity.

The Foundation students loved this activity; they spoke of feeling happy and their work was beautiful, they loved cutting and glueing.

Year 1 & 2

In Years 1 and 2, students reflected on their visual art journeys by reviewing their favourite pieces and preparing them for display. They carefully selected coloured backing paper and explored layout options to best present their work. During class discussions, students described their colour choices and artistic decisions while practising respectful speaking and listening skills. They engaged in peer conversations by asking and answering questions about each other’s work and shared how their creations made them feel. It was wonderful to see their pride in their progress and growing artistic confidence.

Year 3 & 4

Students in Years 3 and 4 demonstrated thoughtful reflection as they curated their semester’s artwork for classroom display. They selected background colours and experimented with layouts to highlight their unique artistic styles. In group discussions, students confidently spoke about the inspiration behind their pieces, the techniques they used, and their final thoughts on their finished work. These conversations fostered a deeper understanding of the creative process and encouraged students to celebrate their personal growth and achievements.

Year 5 & 6

Our Year 5 and 6 students approached their reflection with creativity and maturity. They carefully reviewed their artwork, selecting meaningful pieces that represented their development as artists. After experimenting with display layouts and colour combinations, students engaged in thoughtful discussions about their artistic process, colour choices, and how they felt about their finished pieces. These conversations encouraged peer feedback, self-expression, and a strong sense of accomplishment as students looked back on their artistic journey throughout the semester.

Year 6 students enjoy making their work look professional. They are now thinking about how to discuss and present their artwork.
