Principal's Report

We the community of Craigieburn Primary honour the presence of the Indigenous ancestors in Australian culture and history who reside in the imagination of this land and whose irrepressible spirituality flows through all of creation.
In the spirit of reconciliation, may we walk with respect across all country, land, seas, skies and waterways, in particular the land of which we gather today, Wurundjeri land.
Dear CPS community,
It is another busy term with many sporting and learning events and incursions taking place.
Last week was the completion of our School Review. All Government Schools are reviewed every 4-5 years, our last review was in 2021.
I would like to sincerely thank all the panel members, the students, parents and staff for their involvement in the process.
It was wonderful to have an opportunity to highlight and celebrate our achievements over the past 4 years along with the challenges. I thank all involved for evaluating and giving their feedback on our wonderful school. I look forward to continuing to lead CPS with our amazing team of educators into the next School Review. Our leadership team are working on the School Strategic Plan this will be finalised in the coming weeks and shared with the School Council and staff. All updated documents from our school review will be uploaded onto our school website https://www.craigieburnps.vic.edu.au/
2024 Annual Report to the School Community
The Annual Report to the School Community provides principals and school councils with an opportunity to share the year’s achievements and progress with the school community. This includes reflecting on the school’s performance and explaining the positive impact of school improvement efforts on student outcomes. Our Annual Report can be found on our School Website https://www.craigieburnps.vic.edu.au/
Sorry Day
What is National Sorry Day?
National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’. National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation.
What is Reconciliation Week?
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for NRW remain the same each year, commemorating two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey: the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision.
Reconciliation is everyone’s business and National Reconciliation Week is celebrated in all walks of Australian life. The theme for 2025 Bridging Now to Next reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. A reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will and must continue. Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.
Semester 1 Reports
Teachers are busy finalising student assessment data in preparation for our Semester 1 reports. Over the next couple of weeks, all teachers will be working in Professional Learning Teams to moderate student data in order to make consistent and comparable judgements of student learning against the Victorian Curriculum.
Our teachers will have a Report Writing Day This will be a Pupil free day Tuesday 10th June, following Kings Birthday.
A reminder our Student Led Conferences will be held on Wednesday 2nd July 12.30 – 6.30pm. We look forward to sharing your child’s learning journey with you in their Semester 1 report which will be released via Compass at the end of Term 2.
Our OSHC (Out of School Hours Care) ‘Their Care’ will be open for bookings for parents who require care on either of these days. Please call early to book your spot.
Illnesses
As the cold and flu season makes its unwelcome presence felt, with multiple staff and students currently absent from school for this reason. Please assist us by keeping your child home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms.
Safety in the carpark
We understand that parents cannot always find a carpark during peak pick up and drop off times. However, this does not excuse the high number of parents allowing children to open car doors whilst the car is running and on the road in the carpark to either get out of the car (beginning of the day) or get into the car (end of the day).
It is important that parents park legally to provide a safer environment for children. Double parking restricts the view of drivers, forces children onto the road and obstructs the flow of traffic.
We encourage parents to drive safety in our school carpark and ensure your car is parked (in a carpark) when you child is getting in or out the car.
Please note:
The speed of a moving vehicle is limited to 5km in the carpark and to drive with care.
The local council does monitor school carparks and will issues fines for anyone seen to be breach of the road safety regulations.
