VCE Music Performance Soiree Term 1, 2026
This term, students in the VCE Music (Unit 1-4) classes have embraced a collaborative, progressive and inclusive approach to music making, developing their personal style, deepening their understanding of music performance and music language and building resilience in their approach to music instrumental performance. The VCE Music Soiree is a celebration of their journey thus far and a nurturing space for students to trial works and reflect in a supportive environment that allows their individual and collective musicianship to flourish. All students performed and were able share their artistic intention to the audience. Students were supported by their parents, teachers and peers and received thunderous applause. I look forward to our next Soiree for VCE in Term 2, where we can again measure their growth as they develop greater readiness and confidence for their eventual external Unit 4 exam period.

Year 7 Music
In Term 1, students from Year 7 have been creating Indigenous inspired musical works based on traditional Indigenous stories of the Dreamtime. Students used percussion to represent their characters, events and environments through sound and silence, narrative and Graphic Musical Notation. The students had lots of fun creating their Soundscapes and learning how to play percussion through conventional and non-conventional approaches to develop effective soundtracks to storytelling. Students work was presented through original artworks using symbols inspired by Indigenous paintings and drawings.
