GRIP Leadership Conference
On Wednesday 25th March, SIRC members met at Lilydale station to catch an early train so we could make it to the Melbourne Convention Centre for the start of the GRIP Conference. The GRIP Conference is a leadership conference that is specifically designed for primary and secondary schools. It helps build skills for young leaders in a hands-on way instead of all theoretical. They had all different videos to show how other young leaders have demonstrated these skills in their schools.
Some of the students' favourite parts were when the speakers were on a panel and students from different schools got to ask them questions. Loud Noises - this was an interactive, energetic segment that helped the student leaders to relax and interact with each other. They had different types of games like: excuses for…, guess the song from the pictures, and copy the dance moves. There were elective workshops, which helped you meet like minded people and work on how to build the skills that help young leaders thrive. Everyone seemed to enjoy the experience of the conference.
